After seeing the movie (and waiting for Chris to finish his schmoozing session with the theater folks) we hopped in the car and prepared for a short one and a half hour trip (ha!) to the cabin. However, we didn't budget time for missing our turn-off and getting lost in Cleveland, TN. Nor did we realize our route would take us down a two-lane winding highway along the
Ocoee River with a maximum speed of about 30 mph. I have to admit that this was one of the prettiest drives I have taken. At one point, we passed the area where the 1996 Summer Olympics Kayaking events were held. I would love to go back in the summer when it is warmer and they are moving more water down the river. Anyway, we were about 2 hours into our 1.5 hour trip and were ready to be there already! We finally got to
McCaysville, GA/
Copperhill, TN (It's hard to tell when you cross from one to the other and they share the only stop light in town. Or towns?) and got the key to the cabin. We then
proceeded down more winding roads until we found the road that our cabin was on. Another winding road, only this one was gravel...sort of. We found the cabin sitting on the side of the mountain with a beautiful view. The calm and stillness of the area and the smell of fresh rain were just what the doctor ordered.
These are some pictures of the view the first day. A little cloudy, but still pretty.

Mom and Dad (Nana and Grandpa) pulled up shortly after we got there. We made ourselves at home in the cabin and then decided to go into town for some Mexican food and to do a little grocery shopping. Dinner was great and the Supermarket was entertaining. That's not an adjective I usually use for a grocery store, but this one was. It's fun to find obscure items in a small-town store. All I will say is canned cabbage juice and Treet (first ingredient: mechanically separated chicken parts...yummy). After laughing harder than I ever have in the canned meat aisle, we drove back to our home away from home in the woods and played games until way past our bedtimes.
